City home in Berchem (Antwerp)
The architect's own home: a characterful terraced house, creatively converted into a fresh family home with a considered interplay of materials and colours.

The brief
The architect designed this conversion for her own family. The aim was to transform the terraced house, which already had plenty of character, into a young, fresh family home. The greatest challenge was the location: all materials had to come in through the front door.
The approach
This three-storey city home was completely refreshed, with new exterior joinery, a new roof and new interior finishes. At the rear we extended the ground floor by a few square metres, and large windows now provide a generous connection with the garden.
Materials and finishes
- Exterior joinery in aluminium and lacquered wood
- Power-floated concrete floors
