Medical centre with training rooms and residential unit in Hombeek (Mechelen)
An old, dilapidated warehouse that had stood empty for years became an ultra-modern complex for physiotherapy, training and medical examination, with a residential unit above, built with the most modern techniques and materials.
The brief
To create a modern medical centre and training space, with an emphasis on aesthetics and acoustics. The starting point was an old, dilapidated warehouse that had stood empty for years. The programme: physiotherapy rooms, training rooms, a medical examination centre and a residential unit.
The approach
In Hombeek, near Mechelen, BRIQ upgraded an industrial building into a medical centre with a residential unit on the first floor. The walls and roof consist of insulated black sandwich panels. The floor was fitted with a soft grey matt PU poured floor. To optimise the sound quality in the space, the ceiling of the entire ground floor was finished with an acoustic spray plaster.
