Greenhouse home
New build with orangery in Brussels
A roof of greenhouse glass makes this new build unique, while solid single-leaf walls in aerated concrete provide both the load-bearing capacity and the insulation.

The brief
The client wanted to realise a unique new-build home, within a limited budget.
The approach
On the outskirts of Brussels, BRIQ took care of the finishing of a new-build home with an orangery, in which an intermediate climate prevails. The home has two storeys, topped by a third storey beneath a greenhouse gabled roof. On the ground floor are an open kitchen and a power-floated concrete floor in natural grey. The structure was built in Cellumat® aerated concrete blocks and finished with white plaster.
What was technically special was the construction of the greenhouse roof: the steel structure, the large glazed sections and the different roof pitches had to be precisely aligned to form one stable and watertight whole.
